Tips to Help You Prepare for a New AC Installation

If you are looking forward to getting a new air conditioner, you’re probably very excited about the prospect of a brand-new HVAC system. But how do you prepare for your air conditioning installation in Los Angeles? There are some steps you can take to ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible for everyone involved.

We’re going to highlight some tips that can help you prepare your home and family ahead of a new air conditioner installation. Keep reading to learn how you can help our team prepare your home and children or pets ahead of installation day for your new air conditioner.

Know the Plan

When our team visits your home to complete an in-home assessment for the installation, we will review the plan for the day of installation. It’s important for you to know what time our team plans to get there and what we expect to have to do over the course of the installation.

For example, we have to take out your old unit, but in doing so we may have to make some adjustments or upgrades to maximize operation for your new AC system. This may include installing a new platform for your AC to sit on and updating electrical connections and refrigerant lines. It’s important for you to be home during the installation itself in case we need to ask you questions, adjust our installation plan, or access different areas of your home.

Create Space

Installation will go more smoothly if you create enough space ahead of time for our team to work. This may include temporarily moving furniture and home decor so that our team doesn’t have to work around these things. We need to be able to move to and from the front door easily as we take old equipment out and bring new equipment in.

The more space we have to work with, the easier the installation will be. It’s also a good idea to make sure that we can easily reach all of the air vents around your home. Part of installing a new air conditioner is making sure that the new unit is working. We will test all of the air vents around your home to make sure the airflow is even. If it’s not, we can make adjustments to your ductwork to address hot and cold spots around your home.

Plan for Kids and Pets

We would also greatly appreciate it if you make plans for your children and pets on the day of installation. It is natural for them to be very curious about you people in your home and an exciting project like getting a new air conditioner.

However, an AC installation is not a safe environment for young children and animals. Our team are professionals and we know how to handle HVAC equipment safely. If you are able to keep children and pets in a separate area of your home, that’s great. Otherwise, we recommend that you make other plans for them, like staying with a friend or family member on the day of the installation.

JMS Air Conditioning and Heating has your back. Call us today to schedule an appointment for a new air conditioning installation in Los Angeles, CA!
