Tips for Addressing AC Airflow Problems

If you’re noticing weak or lukewarm airflow coming from your air conditioner, these are red flags that something is wrong with the system. You may be wondering what is causing the issues and how to address AC airflow problems. Our team is here to help you troubleshoot.

Just give us a call when you think you need AC repair in Los Angeles. You can also keep reading to learn more about the problems that might cause lukewarm or weak airflow coming from your air conditioner. No matter what the problem is, we can help you fix it and get your AC working again at its best.

Addressing Lukewarm Airflow

Sometimes you can have perfectly strong airflow that isn’t cool enough to actually lower the temperature inside your home. You may hold your hand up to a vent in one of your rooms and think that the air feels okay. However, if it doesn’t feel specifically cool or cold that’s a problem. Your air conditioner needs to blow cold air out of the vents to mix in with the warmer air and lower the temperature.

Feeling lukewarm air or air that is only slightly cool means that your AC is not doing enough to lower the temperature. When you first notice this problem, it may not seem like a huge deal if your home is still reasonably comfortable. Ignoring the problem can mean that you’re left calling us for an emergency appointment in the near future when the temperature of airflow gets even warmer.

Common problems that result in lukewarm airflow include blocked airflow, refrigerant leaks, or ice buildup on the evaporator coils. Without enough refrigerant in the lines, your AC cannot absorb heat to transfer outside of your home. If this problem goes on long enough or if there isn’t enough airflow coming into the system, it can lead to ice building up on the coils and reducing airflow even more.

Addressing Weak Airflow

It’s also possible that you have cold air flow, but it isn’t blowing out of the vents with enough force. When this happens, you may not have enough airflow entering the system. If your air filter is particularly dirty, the air conditioner cannot pull in enough to cool down your home.

If you change out your air filter to a clean one and still have the same problem with weak airflow, there may be a blockage somewhere in the system. Give our team a call for service and we can inspect your air conditioner and ductwork for any blockages.

We can also look for holes in your ductwork where cold air may be escaping before it ever reaches your home. If you haven’t had your ductwork inspected, cleaned, and resealed in the last three to five years, it’s a good idea to go ahead and invest in the services now. When cold air is escaping before it reaches your home, your air conditioner is working a lot harder and costing you more on your monthly energy bill.
